Mazzoli Ice Cream Company was founded in 1956 by Mr. & Mrs. Fred Mazzoli in the sweetest place on earth.
Mr. Mazzoli served as Milton S. Hershey's personal dairy chef at The Hotel Hershey and Hershey Creamery
from the late 1920's to the early 1940's. He was a key confidant to Mr. Hershey on product development,
and they worked hand-in-hand experimenting with flavors and ingredients to craft just the right frozen
desserts.
Mr. Mazzoli proved his dedication and talent to Mr. Hershey during World War II. While experiencing a
shortage of both milk and sugar, Mr. Mazzoli discovered the very first substitute formula for ice cream, a
combination of vegetable fat and powdered rice that even Mr. Hershey didn't think of that was later named
Victory Whip for its remarkable taste and texture.
The death of Mr. Hershey in 1945 did not end Mr. Mazzoli's desire to use his years of experience and
knowledge of ice cream to handcraft unique Italian desserts which nearly 10 years later became the
foundation for Mazzoli Ice Cream Company.
As Central Pennsylvania's oldest Italian creamery, Mazzoli's has served its signature Italian desserts
to restaurants for more than 50 years. Today, owner Bob Coleman, and his wife, Laurie, continue to make
Mazzoli's signature Italian desserts according to the original recipes. Mazzoli's brings the taste and
nostalgia of Italy to you. With every bite, you'll experience part of the Mazzoli family tradition.
